Capturing Timeless Moments

We’re thrilled to introduce Karen Catchpole Photography, a visionary in capturing timeless, emotive moments. With an eye for storytelling and a passion for natural beauty, Karen’s photography transforms ordinary scenes into extraordinary memories.

Recently, Karen joined us at Thetford Farm Barn for an exclusive photoshoot, and the results are nothing short of breathtaking. From golden-hour glows to the rustic elegance of our venue, she has truly brought our space to life through the lens.

With years of experience in wedding, lifestyle, and editorial photography, Karen masterfully blends light, texture, and emotion to create images that feel both intimate and cinematic. Whether it’s the delicate details of a wedding dress or the grandeur of a countryside celebration, her work speaks for itself.

We can’t wait to share the full collection from this stunning shoot, but in the meantime, we asked Karen for a quick Q&A to find out more about her photography and why we’re so excited to have collaborated with her.

How would you describe your photography style, and how does it influence your wedding shoots?

My photography style is a very relaxed and candid. I am here to photograph one of the happiest days of your lives and to capture those beautiful memories for you to look back on for many years to come. I love the natural approach, so this means no posing I just want you to be yourselves so you feel relaxed, this goes for the guests as well as you both. Often people see me more like a guest (I like to chat) Which helps everyone else feel more relaxed on the day also.

Did you use any unique techniques or equipment to capture these shots?

For the most part I work with natural light. I look at how the light falls and use it in a way to make the shot more creative. This may be having more shadow areas or using the sun to add a little flare. Golden hours is my favourite time so I tend to save this for the couple shots. I do however sometimes use the additional flash for the darker days to make sure you stand out and there’s not to much grain. I also love a bit of Bokeh, adding depth to the photo I think gives it that little extra.

What’s your approach to capturing authentic emotions and storytelling through photography?

I know when it’s time to stand back and let you have some ‘you’ time and get those nice candid moments of you both and in the moment. I’m always people watching and standing back to photograph everyone, you often look back through the photos and find moments you didn’t even know happened on the day.

How do you work with couples to make them feel comfortable in front of the camera?

I try to avoid posing as I want you to feel comfortable, I would rather you be your typical selves, if you have fun quirks that you like to do then I want to know about them. My main focus is I want you to both have fun! Natural smiles and belly laugh! I also love to include an engagement shoot with my full day package as this is a way to get to know you before the day and you can see how I work, and hopefully helps you both feel more relaxed on the wedding day.

Was there a standout moment from the shoot that you loved capturing?

Everything about Thetford Farm Barn has been amazing, from seeing a simple space being brought to life in so many different ways, it really does show you that anything is possible and making your dream a reality. Plus since I have a 7month old who likes to come on these shoots with me from time to time, the staff at Thetford have been amazing at helping me entertain, look after and just adapting to my needs, as well as being super patient. More like a family now than your typical wedding venue.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give couples to ensure beautiful wedding photos?

Be yourself in front of the camera. Speak to lots of photographers ask them all sort of questions, make sure you like their editing style. Most importantly choose someone who makes you feel comfortable and you like! You will be spending lots of time with them on your day.
